Hi Iwannabe, welcome to MTF! I have the i1050 myself. You can, but alas, as rcbe mentioned, there does not appear to be any available for the i-Series specifically.

If you're looking to do basic maintenance, the operator's manual, which you can, does have all the recommended intervals for changing oil, lube, filters, etc. You'll need to enter your model (mine is 17AF9BKP710) and a serial number (note, serial number 1 works!). Sounds like you've already got this one.

Most of the complex service usually involves the engine anyway, which is an entirely different service manual from the tractor service manual (which apparently doesn't exist). I was able to locate a service manual for my engine at the Kohler website, specifically.

My engine is the Kohler Courage V-twin OHC 25 HP, model 'PH-SV730-0011', but apparently what the Kohler website wants as a model is just the 'SV730' part of this model string, in case you try a search there. So do you own one of these tractors? I'm just curious because there don't seem to be a lot of us Cub i-Series owners on MTF (15 at my last count) so it's nice to see another one. Thank you all for your sagely advise, pointers and welcome. Yes, indeed I own an i1042 which was purchased (sheepishly) from a big box store, and like most postings I've read, have issues with the setup. The tractor was DOA which was easily fixed by recharging the batteries.

The tale doesn't stop there. The belt came off (PTO to deck) after two uses this season, and I haven't figured out yet how to put it back on. I will dig through the manual again and this site to see if there's an easier way to put the belt back and more importantly, how Thanks again to all.

And I haven't figured out yet how to put it back on. I will dig through the manual again and this site to see if there's an easier way to put the belt back and more importantly, how Thanks again to all. You will have to look at the diagram that shows PTO belt routing to ensure that it is in compliance.

Then, make sure the belt is within the boundary of the belt guard under the PTO drive pulley. Now you'll have to fenagle, roll, muscle that belt onto the pulley.

That is the most difficult part. If you have a helper, have them relieve tension on the idler pulley (on the deck) while you're working the belt on the main pulley. Hope this helps a little. The belt came off (PTO to deck) after two uses this season, and I haven't figured out yet how to put it back on.My 50' deck probably has a different routing than your 42', but markwb has your size and pretty much covered it with his reply. I would just add to make sure the idler pulley brackets and any other belt keeper pins aren't rubbing on the belt, and also that the belt isn't twisted anywhere. My idler pulley bracket wasn't shaped just right and used to rub on the belt occasionally, and this will prematurely wear the belt. And the deck belt is an expensive one to replace if you buy the OEM belt from your dealer (around $70-$80 for the belt on my 50' deck).

BTW, if you need replacements belts theres a guy on here with user name MikeB who sells belts at a good discount. I'd suggest keeping a spare on hand, so if your belt does break, you can get back up and running quickly and then take your time finding a replacement. PM him if you are interested. For anyone that is interested, the shop repair/service manual for the i series can be purchased here: Thanks Fireman.

And welcome to MTF! Thanks for the link. I've got all the docs that are available for free, but not the service manual. Looks like the outfit you linked to provides electronic copy only. I have no problem with an electronic copy, but $25 seems a bit steep if they have no printing or shipping expense to recover.

I may sleep on it though. Just curious. Are you an i-Series owner?
