2015 Mitsubishi Triton Manual

This is my 3rd brand new triton & I have to say it’s an improvement over the last model. I also had 3rd gear popping out under load once gearbox was at operating temperature. Went back to the dealer who ended up replacing 3rd gear in the box which fixed the issue.

Overall happy with the 6 speed especially cruising on the open road. I preferred having a gear stick for the transfer case like the last model however I’ve gotten used to the dial. This model handles better, is quieter than the previous model.

If I had a choice I would like the old 3.5l petrol instead of the diesel only due to turbo lag if not in the correct gear however the diesel gets almost double the mileage over the old petrol. The petrol engine was a lot less complicated to service compared to all the new high output diesels on offer from various manufacturers. The most annoying thing for me has been the seatbelt not done up chime. I just disconnected it under the drivers seat as I’m in out of the car on private property quite often. Just recently I have a drive belt pulley bearing that’s shot however I’ll just get the dealer to replace it next service. So far I’ve had it 2 yrs & travelled 60k in it.

I would buy one again. Great car, heaps of power and not a single problem so far.

  • Apr 29, 2015 - So it's the best-ever Triton - after driving the GLS, GLX and Exceed (manual and auto, on-road and off it) we can confirm that much. But is it as.
  • Home / Road tests / New Mitsubishi Triton closes in on the top tier. New Mitsubishi Triton closes in on the top tier. By Damien O'Carroll •. Same as the last model, with the 2WD GLX single cab chassis manual kicking off the range.

Sep 18, 2013 - Although the Mitsubishi Triton range extends from $20,990 for the 4x2 cab chassis manual to $48,240 for the GLX-R 4x4 double cab automatic.

Great on fuel and very comfortable. After driving 2017 rangers and hilux's for work and seeing the problems they have i decided on the triton and have not looked back. Ford and Toyota quality is just not there and you're expected to pay a premium of over $20,000 in most cases. I am over 6ft tall and entry into the car is great, no hitting my lower back on the pillar like some utes. Interior quality is very well finished, no loose plastic bits rattling around like the work ranger.Triton all the way. I brought a new 2018 model top end Triton going from a 2014 glxr which was a much better car that I loved and had pride in I feel the new tritons have gone backwards the bluetooth system is absolutely rubbish the volume is only in the left hand speaker and while talking on the phone with some people I need to pull over because the volume is just simply not loud enough.

Mitsubishi Triton Problems

I have been back to the dealership they tell me that's just the way they are so I rang Mitsubishi Australia and they are the most incompetent people on earth they have no clue what so ever and can not do anything to help. My ute only has 5000 Kim and I want to sell it. It's so frustrating that you can spend so much money and Mitsubishi can not even make sure what they advertise works well. Be warned Mitsubishi has a ‘Limited Life Warranty’ and lists a bunch of parts that Mitsubishi only warrants for 12 months or 20,000kms?

Mitsubishi suggests that these components are “subject to normal wear and tear and that the use of your vehicle can influence the life of these components”. Fair call, but that summary could fairly be applied to every part that makes up a vehicle.

There are some items listed you can’t argue with, as wear and tear and potentially owner abuse can kill some consumables – brake pads, clutches and wiper rubbers come to mind for example – and no self respecting new vehicle owner would expect such items to be covered. But the following items being classified as having a ‘limited life’ and being dumped from the known five-year warranty and plonked into an unknown 12 month warranty, tucked away in the service book or on the Mitsubishi website. Glow plugs Fuel injectors Cooling and fuel lines or hoses Rubber or plastic components The main concerns are the glow plugs and fuel injectors. What owner wouldn’t reasonably expect to get five years or 100,000 kms from both of those items and accordingly have the vehicle’s full warranty cover them should they fail prematurely? The same can be said of cooling and fuel line hoses. They can’t really be worn out prematurely by the owner, so why only a 12 month warranty? The rubber and plastic components inclusion is amusing given the entire vehicle is made up of thousands of rubber and plastic parts, including many plastic items used in the engine and cooling system.

What happens if an injector fails outside of its Limited Life Warranty period and melts a piston? Is the engine still covered by the five year warranty? Mitsubishi’s website under warranty describes it's 'limited life warranty' but most describe a 'limited life-time warranty. Mitsubishi just deducted the time part. But a Google search doesn't even know the term. So they just made it up? Anyway you go to a dealer and they give you a brochure that says nothing about limited life warranty.

And the dealer doesn't hand out any material about it either before they get you to sign a contract. Then you look at page 9 of the warranty booklet and there it is. After the fact. Not fair trading! False and misleading! Better to ask your dealer what is not covered under your 5 year warranty before you buy it. Excellent car to drive handles very well, tows well, comfortable, towed a 2.8 t half way around Australia no problems.

Good on fuel under 100 km hr. Few little issues, aircon packed it in day after buying it, no problems getting it fixed, had clutch slip while towing from day 1, often drops the bluetooth off while driving have to shutdown and start again to get it back. If i was too buy again would go auto, the clutch is different to any other manual ive driven. Overall good value for money with so far only minor issues.

Had the new Triton Blackline 2 weeks, first week I towed my trade trailer 450kms into the hills for a job used only half a tank of juice, no trailer sway and easily sat on 110 up hills. The drive back was at night and the lights are so bright one would have little use for high beams.had to pull over n read the book one morning as the car beeped and a symbol came up on dash read the book and it was telling me the road was frozen. Have then done a week in full bush then back home with and without trailer, great turning circle ⭕️ took it to Melbourne today and reverse parked easily with limited space with camera. We also took it for a drive down the great ocean road and then through the otways the 4 of us were all comfortable and really enjoyed the drive and worth switching to 4x4 while driving you can feel the extra grip on very curvy or wet roads. I am still figuring the car out but Cruze is easy to use on the wheel controls as is apple car play through your ph illuminates on the touchpad and reads our texts etc. Pretty smart for a mid range Ute.

Now Done 1000kms of all types of driving and can’t fault it on looks love the black n white, handling is nice and price, which at the end of the day was the thing that Mitsubishi can’t be beaten on. I haven’t got an extra 20 k so never looked at Hilux or ranger etc. Checked out Colorado but there low spec was priced the same as the Blackline deal I got.got a ripper deal at kings Mitsubishi Geelong and would highly recommend them to local buyers, stay local & get looked after. Great car pity bout Lander Mitsubishi and Mitsubishi Australia. I had a hard lid tonnou installed by the dealer on my brand new car.

4 weeks later, it rubbed the paint back to bare metal on the rear side panel. It wasnt installed correctly. Has been back 4-5 times for re-alignment as it wont lock. 02/06/18 - I lodged a complaint and warranty claim with the dealer. Every month I rang and asked for an update. 'Still with Mitsubishi HQ' was the response every time. Finally 24/06/18, I complain to Mitsubishi Australia, I get a response on the 26/06/18 saying that they only received the warranty claim form the dealer yesterday 25/06/18 and it is denied as the part isnt faulty.

I agree, it wasnt faulty but the installation was. So the dealer says it a HQ problem and HQ says it isnt their problem. So Im stuck with a damaged brand new car through no fault of my own.

So no more loyal servicing for me at this dealer. I will take my business elsewhere and Ill be paying half the service cost. Horrible customer service for an issue caused by the dealer through no fault on my part. DO NOT BUY A MITSUBISHI AS THEY DONT CARE ABOUT DAMAGE THEY CAUSE TO YOUR BRAND NEW CAR. Drives great smooth quiet handles great I think its great value for money and that other brands are thieves for the prices they charge for this type of vehicle. The but is the computer I got a lemon computer in mine I know this because friends of mine have bought the same vehicle and don't have the problems that I have.

Triton

HILL STALL ASSIST yes thats what its called you either wait 3 seconds for the brakes to release or you bring the revs up to 3000 and get of the clutch and traction control will do the rest. Other problem is if you drive sedately and I do most of the time no problems, but if you put your foot down from a standing start it will either roll forward and stall leaving you in the firing line for a collision,or it will creep forward slowly for about 5 car lengths and then it will give all its power in a rush when you no longer need it.I think these options are great if they work but as with most computers there are never reliable and we should be able to switch them off.

This is my second triton, after 145,000kms of trouble free driving in my first I bought a second. Has got 57,000kms now. The tritons cop a lot of flack, what gets forgotten is they are 10 to 20k cheaper than a lot of alternatives on the market. I have a checkeplate canopy, tow a 2ton van or a tandem trailer or a 3ton boat. Plus a lot of late night regional road travel and the triton is amazing!

It’s comfortable and powerful enough to handle my requirements, quiet and fuel efficient enough (I’m nearly always loaded) $$ wise I do not think there is better value for money comfortable and reliable dual cabs on the market. When this one is finished I’ll definitely be getting another!

Eight months ago we thought it would be a good idea to buy a BRAND NEW triton and here we are eight months in and the paint is absolutely destroyed. You pay an extra $500 odd dollars to have your choice in colour and for what? It to be pealing back and eroding!

Mitsubishi Australia has claimed its 'environmental' but the car is ALWAYS garaged and washed, the paint is painted inconsistently and is chipping off on different panels through out the car, are you meant to drive your car indoors and wash it every single minute of the day? An eight month, $40,000 car should have better paint standards, now paying off this piece of shit painted car for it to look like it's been left on a beach for ten years is the situation because a multi million dollar company decides to pin their shit paint work on 'environmental' instead of repainting it instead of admitting its not been sprayed as it should be. My advice, don't buy a triton, don't waste your money and mental health. The Triton has proven to be great value for Money so far. Whilst the ride is a bit harsher than other utes in the segment, that has been the only negative to date (15000kms so far). It has good performance, even when towing (have towed 3T with the ute 2800kms, with no issue).

The features included in the gls are good, especially the android auto feature of the stereo system. A standout feature I like is the superselect 4x4 system, allowing us to run full time 4wd on the bitumen. This is great in the wet, cutting out the usual ute handling characteristics you get with no load in the wet. The ute returns between 8-10 L/100 on a usual commuting cycle, which i find acceptable. Whilst early on in ownership, I think what the triton offers versus other siginificantly more expensive offerings in the category is a great, and wouldnt hesitate to get another triton.

Having owned 3 navaras a ranger and a great wall i have to say the trition is average at best. Fuel economy is really good, interior is nice and comfy but the performance is terrible - it handles like a water bed and dont go near potholes or speed bumps. The radio quality is crap and the fog lights being on permanently is annoying.

Really bad shudder with gear change at low speed and overtaking isnt really an option. I paid $46k NZD for this ute 2018 glxr and i paid $48k for the st navara. I'd buy the navara a thousand times over before i bothered with another triton, i think i'll give this to the apprentice and go buy a bt50 hahaha.
